Ive been hitting up a lot of concerts lately, and want to start taking photos, however, most bands and venues dont allow any camera with a removable lends system, which leaves me looking at point and shoots . . .
So, something with minimal shutter lag ( I want the shot I hit the button for, not a shot 1 second later ), high megapixels ( if this is even something to consider ), good zoom ( while I try to get the best seats I can, its never a guarantee ), large range of iso speeds shutter speeds and aperture settings . . .

Basically dslr funtionality in a compact body without the interchangable lens, however, if there are other suggestions, and suggestions on suitable cameras ( lighting is difficult too since Im in the audience and the stage is usually lit up like a christmas tree ) I would be greatly appreciative.

Just as an example, Ive got a sony HX30, am looking at a HX300, however, not 100% sure on what I really Should be looking for . . .

Thanks in Advance

Advice needed

2 min read
Ive been hitting up a lot of concerts lately, Rock, none of this pop crap thank you. Now, I want to start taking photos at future shows, however the venues dont allow "professional looking" cameras or cameras with detachable lenses.  Since Im shooting from the audience Im needing a high end point and shoot with decent zoom, Id prefer higher megapixels, but, shutter lag seems to be an issue - I want the shot I try to get, not a shot from a second later.

Here is where the advice comes in: What do I really want to be looking for keeping in mind a dslr or one of the newer mirrorless systems it pretty much out of the question ?
Does higher megapixel count really make that much of a difference in current cameras or is it purely lens quality + apeture + iso speed + shutter speed ?
Im Assuming its all the above, so, second part here is any advice on specific cameras ? Id like to have one that processes in RAW but, they seem to be few and far between ( and lower megapixels: eg is a camera that is only 12mp but processes in RAW better than a 20mp that only does jpeg? Im thinking yes it is but I could be wrong )

Thanks in advance

So, my expected return to rendering is taking somewhat longer than anticipated.
Terragen seems to be overly resource hungry these days, that or my settings are insane, Im still testing that.
Cinema 4d doesnt seem to have a learning curve so much as a learning Cliff to scale . . . getting there though, slowly . . .

Jan 12, 2012: Should be picking up all the final pieces of my new pc, something that can handle the kinds of things I want to throw at it - hopefully.
So, by the end of Feb, all going well, I should start posting again . . . .
